It is, normally, trucks that perform the transportation and delivery of food products at the distance up to two or three thousand kilometers – for example, from Russia to Georgia. Frequently, trucks deliver the freight to the sea port wherefrom the freight is embarked and sent to the further travel. Factually, motor trucking constitutes as much as 70% of the entire freight traffic worldwide.
Open lorries and vans, tractor trucks and haulers, drawbar trailers and semitrailers – all these are diverse types of trucks. The advantages of motor trucking include but are not limited to: affordable price, speed of delivery and “door-to-door” delivery, consolidated cargo, the opportunity to reroute during Force-Major, etc.
Often, this mode of freight traffic allows us to cut the time and save money. It is up to experienced forwarders to choose the most appropriate type of trucks, the optimal route, and even to somehow secure both cargo and cargo carrier against some unforeseen events or contingency.
